Flooring Rule

A flooring rule is a hand tool that is used to level screeds and rule out the surface of the floor. They can made of either metal or wood. An accurate reading will not be given if the when levelling screeds with a spirit level if the edges along the length are not parallel.

Wooden rules should be stored straight particularly if they are wet so that they do not bend. Metal tools should be washed so that they stay clean but sharp tools should not be used because they will splinter the edge of timber rules.
