Plasterers Terminology
Plasterers use different phrases and terms depending on the situation here are just some that we can think of.
- Floating
- Floating means the applcation of a backing plaster to a background. ie. "just floating this wall up, be with you in a minute."
- Float
- A float us a tool we use for rubbing up sand & cement. ie. "just got to float my wall up, speak to you in a bit"
- Float & Set
- This means apply a backing plaster then finish with a finish plaster ready for decorating. "I've got to float & set a couple of walls today"
- Skim
- simple term meaning apply finish plaster ready for decorating. "I've got to skim a couple of ceilings today"
- Skimming
- same as above really, but present tense "can't talk right now just skimming a couple of walls"
